Towards the end of the year, it seems natural that most of us tend to feel and approach those days with sentimentalism and gratitude. With cups of coffee, a whiteboard and a multitude of these emotions in mind, we concocted our own version of a campaign to highlight our gratitude towards the ladies who have etched and collected marks on the soles of their Nelissa Hilman heels. Like tree barks, every ring, scratch and wear collected tells a unique story of a journey and a story worth sharing. These are not just worn in shoes; they are companions in your bold steps. Accompanying you from career milestones, walking down the aisle on your special days, quiet nights of reflection on a park bench, nightime city strolls, and even for your first dates. We call this campaign, Wear Your Own Story. 

The first in our six episode installment for Wear Your Own Story, we are delighted to have you meet Natasya. We first got to know of Natasya as a customer. An ardent supporter of small Malaysian creatives, our relationship with Natasya grew naturally symbiotic. Knowing how many pairs of archival Nelissa Hilman pieces she has, casting her was a no brainer. This also became our chance to get reacquainted with NH classics well loved and well worn since our inception. 

Sat on a mustard coloured sofa, Natasya adjusts her sleeves, fixes her “tudung”. Her mouth upturned with a slight smile. Always the stylishly chic and proper lady, Natasya is a natural in front of the camera. A businesswoman, Natasya serves as the Director of an innovative aged care enterprise. Under her care, she has grown her share into the business of elder care to Jakarta and even Langkawi. Naturally, this has also pushed her to become an Ahli Majlis of Kendana Malaysia. A non profit that focuses on governance, protection and advocacy for caregivers. She is also mother to Sudin, an adorable cat who suantered into her life this year, and a mother to Alya, her daughter who she proclaims proudly is currently a lawyer.

We asked Natasya three questions.

1) What is a moment most memorable to you with your pair of Nelissa Hilmans?

I have a lot of happy moments wearing the shoes, but the only one moment that made me very sad when I look at my one pair of Nelissa Hilmans was in 2018. Back then I was going through personal issues, my father passed away and I was going through some marital problems. I didnt think much at that time, taking things one step at a time. But what gave me joy during that time was truly the few pairs of Nelissa Hilmans that I bought and wore during that time. 

2) What are you most proud of in 2024?

Well in 2024, I own a cat! I never knew that I'm a cat person. This cat by the name of Sudin walked into my life and the bonding was amazing. I think I'm proud of that the most.

3) What are you most excited for in 2025? 

I want to see more stability in the economy in Malaysia, I want to see more happy people, I want to see more people being helped, I want to support more local brands so local businesses can continue to create for the longest time.
